Spalletti: ‘That is the Italy everyone expects’

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti said after the 3-3 draw with Germany was not enough to turn things around and secure a place in the UEFA Nations League.

Italy had lost 2-1 at home in their first match of the UEFA Nations League and were down 3-0 at half-time to Germany in the second match. They managed to equalise 3-3 at half-time, but it was not enough as the Germans advanced 5-4 on aggregate.

Spalletti summed up the performance เล่นเกมคาสิโน UFABET ทันสมัย ฝากถอนง่าย after the game, which had both positive and negative aspects: “It was clear in the first half that we didn’t have enough commitment to play football and gave the opponents the opportunity to play their own game, both individually and as a team.”

“Then we realised within ourselves that we needed to do more and we saw the Italy that everyone expected (in the second half).”

“We made too many mistakes in winning the ball back and then gave it back straight away. We knew Germany would press high but I expected more from the team. We’re spoke in the dressing room at half-time and saw what we wanted.”

Italy are therefore out of the Nations League in the quarter-final stage, which means they begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Norway on June 6.

They will be in Group I with Norway, Israel, Estonia and Moldova.

“We know how to play, trust us, we’ll say what we need to say.”
